MassLive: US Sen. Elizabeth Warren seeks data on prevalence of sexual harassment in financial sector
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren urged federal regulators this week to detail how common sexual harassment is in the financial services industry -- a sector which she argued has had relatively few public reports of such behavior.
The Massachusetts Democrat, in a pair of Thursday letters, asked officials with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Securities and Exchange Commission to provide information on how often sexual harassment -- an issue which has gained national attention in recent months -- occurs in the financial sector.
Noting that more than 6 million people work in the financial services industry, Warren argued that "the world of finance is not immune from this harassment."
