Springfield Republican: US Sen. Elizabeth Warren offers bill to require gambling disorder screenings for service members
With an estimated 56,000 active duty service members thought to have gambling disorders, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, introduced legislation this week that would require the military to include problem gambling screens in annual health and behavioral surveys.
The Massachusetts Democrat, who had called on the agency to study military problem gambling in 2015, contended that her proposed legislation will "help advance the military's efforts to support service members dealing with gambling addiction."
"Our men and women in uniform deserve nothing less," she stressed.
