Warren Statement on the Retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer
Washington, D.C. - United States Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) issued the following statement on the retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer:
"Justice Breyer has been an extraordinary public servant and a wonderful Justice. He's written important opinions on some of the most pressing issues facing our country today, including protecting the right to an abortion and preserving the Affordable Care Act. I support President Biden’s commitment to nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court. This is an historic opportunity for our nation’s highest court to more fully reflect our nation’s highest ideals and make real the promise of equal justice under law. I look forward to working with my Senate colleagues to ensure the President’s nominee receives a prompt hearing and swift confirmation."
