Statement from Senator Elizabeth Warren on President Trump’s Nuclear Posture Review
Washington, DC - United States Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) issued the following statement in response to President Trump's release of the Nuclear Posture Review:
"I am alarmed by the nuclear strategy released by the Trump Administration, which calls for introducing more usable nuclear weapons into the U.S. arsenal and expanding our reliance on nuclear weapons in military strategy. This step would undermine decades of U.S. leadership in reducing the role and quantity of nuclear weapons globally. We must continue to take practical steps toward a world in which nuclear war is less likely."
Senators Warren, Markey, Feinstein, and Merkley led a group of 16 senators in writing to President Trump last week in response to the reported contents of the NPR.
