Statement from Sen. Warren on Janet Yellen's Confirmation
WASHINGTON, DC - United States Senator Elizabeth Warren released the following statement today after the Senate voted to confirm Janet Yellen as Chair of the Federal Reserve:
"I am delighted the Senate has voted to confirm Janet Yellen as the first woman to Chair the Federal Reserve. This was an historic vote - one that reflected Janet's impeccable credentials and extraordinary track record. Janet understands that the Fed has a critical role to play in accelerating our economic recovery, and she recognizes that the Fed's obligation to supervise and regulate our biggest banks is just as important as its duty to set interest rates and manage inflation. She has the right priorities, the right experience, and the right temperament to lead the Fed at this important time."
