Sens. Warren and Markey Statement on JetBlue Decision to Retrofit Planes with Noise-Reducing Generators
Washington, DC - United States Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) today issued the following statement on JetBlue's plans to retrofit its entire Airbus fleet with noise-reducing vortex generators and helping address airplane-related noise problems affecting communities near Logan International Airport and elsewhere.
"We are pleased that JetBlue has announced plans to retrofit its entire Airbus fleet with noise-reducing vortex generators, which was a request that we made of the company in a 2016 letter to President and CEO of JetBlue, Robin Hayes, as well as in subsequent meetings with JetBlue representatives. JetBlue's pledge to make these improvements and respond to community concerns about noise exemplifies the power of individuals, government, and industry working together toward a common resolution. We call on all airlines to do the same."
