Senators Warren, Markey Applaud Nomination of Inga Bernstein to U.S. District Court in Massachusetts
BOSTON - President Obama announced that he has nominated Inga Bernstein to serve on the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Inga Bernstein was recommended to Senators Elizabeth Warren and Edward J. Markey as a top candidate for Boston's federal judicial vacancy by the Advisory Committee on Massachusetts Judicial Nominations.
"I was glad to recommend Inga to the President for nomination to a District Court vacancy in Boston," Senator Warren said. "During her career, Inga has served communities throughout Greater Boston, representing families, teachers and workers. She comes highly recommended from the legal community, and I am certain that she will be a terrific addition to the federal bench."
"I am pleased that President Obama has nominated Inga Bernstein to a U.S. District Court vacancy in Boston," Senator Markey said. "Inga has a strong reputation, and her vast and diverse experience in the legal community serving Boston will make her an excellent addition to the federal bench."
In March of 2013, Senator Warren announced the appointment of an Advisory Committee on Massachusetts judicial nominations to solicit, interview, and comment on applications for federal District Court vacancies in Massachusetts. The Committee is comprised of distinguished members of the Massachusetts legal community appointed by Senators Warren and Markey, including prominent academics and litigators, and is chaired by former District Court Judge Nancy Gertner.
The Committee reviewed applications, interviewed candidates, and ultimately recommended Inga Bernstein to fill the Boston vacancy on the District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
