Senator Warren to Serve on Airland, Personnel, and Strategic Forces Subcommittees

Senator Will Use Subcommittee Roles to Support Massachusetts Military Bases and Personnel

Washington, DC - The Senate Committee on Armed Services announced today that Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) will serve on the Airland, Personnel, and Strategic Forces Subcommittees during the 115th Congress.

"Serving on these Armed Services subcommittees is an opportunity to support the innovative defense work at Massachusetts' military installations - work that strengthens our national security and helps our servicemembers do their jobs as safely and effectively as possible," Senator Warren said. "I look forward to working with committee members to support America's servicemembers and defense personnel, and to provide oversight of America's strategic forces."

The Subcommittee on Airland provides oversight of Army and Air Force programs, National Guard and Reserve equipment, Army and Air Force research and development, and procurement. This includes oversight over programs conducted at all Massachusetts' military installations.

The Subcommittee on Personnel is responsible for military and DOD civilian personnel policies; end strengths for military personnel; military personnel compensation and benefits; military health care; and military nominations.

The Subcommittee on Strategic Forces oversees nuclear and strategic forces; non-proliferation programs; space programs; Department of Energy defense nuclear, and defense environmental management programs; and ballistic missile defense.
