Decision Impacts the Over 40,000 Pending Asylum Applications and Suspends All New Applications in the Boston Region
Washington, DC - United States Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) released the following statement condemning the Trump Administration's decision to redirect asylum officers in Boston and Newark to the southwest border and suspend all new asylum applications in Boston.
"The Trump administration's recent decision to suspend processing of new asylum applications in Boston is part of its shameful campaign to prevent people fleeing violence from finding refuge in the U.S." said Senator Warren. "If the Trump administration is serious about addressing the humanitarian crisis at our border, it can stop unnecessary and inhumane detention of kids and families, reverse decisions that restrict asylum claims, and invest real money in addressing the crisis in Central America."
