MassLive: Elizabeth Warren asks President Donald Trump for update on implementation of White House opioid commission's recommendations

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, pressed President Donald Trump this week for an update on how his administration is responding to the more than 50 recommendations a White House commission has put forth to address drug addiction and end the opioid abuse crisis.

Warren and Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Ranking Member Sen. Patty Murray, D-Washington penned a letter to Trump seeking information on his response to the Commission on Combatting Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis's proposed policy changes.

Warren and Murray further raised concerns about proposed budget cuts to the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, reports that aides "with limited public health expertise" have been coordinating the administration's response to the crisis and Trump's failure to fill the position of Drug Enforcement Agency administrator.
